MEDIA CONSENT EXPLAINED

The most important thing

Your child can attend every session, take part in everything and be a full member whether or not you agree to any of this. Media permission is asked separately from the terms and conditions precisely so that you can say no to it without saying no to anything else. Nobody will ask you why.

The three permissions

1. Photography

Lets the coach take still photographs during sessions. These are used for the coach's own records and, if you have also agreed to publication, may be shared.

2. Video

Lets the coach record video during sessions. Video is often used to show a parent something their child did well, or to look back on progress.

3. Publication on the website and social media

This is the separate, bigger one. It lets us publish images or video of your child on the Next Level website and social media accounts. You can agree to photos being taken while refusing publication; plenty of parents do.

Rules we follow when we publish

• We never publish a child's full name alongside their image. A first name at most, and often nothing at all.
• We never publish a child's location, school, address or any other identifying detail.
• Images focus on the activity, not on individual children.
• Children are always suitably dressed in kit or training wear.
• We do not publish images of a child who is upset, injured or in a vulnerable moment.
• If a group photo includes a child without publication consent, we either crop them out or do not use it.

These follow the approach set out in FA and NSPCC guidance for photographing children in grassroots sport.

Children with legal restrictions

If your child is subject to court proceedings, a care order, or any other legal restriction meaning their image must not appear publicly, please tell Coach Will directly. Say nothing more than you need to. We will simply make sure they are never photographed.

Changing your mind

You can change or withdraw any of these permissions at any time, for any reason, without explaining yourself. Email nlfdcoaching@gmail.com or tell the coach.

We will stop taking new images immediately and remove published ones from our website and social media as soon as we reasonably can. We cannot always remove something already shared onwards by someone else, which is one reason it is worth thinking about publication permission carefully.

Photos taken by other parents

Other parents often want photos of their own children. We ask everyone to be considerate and avoid photographing other people's children, but we cannot control what other families do with their own phones. If this concerns you, please talk to the coach.

You're welcome to take photos of your own child. Please keep other children out of shot where you can, and never post photos of other people's children online without their parents' permission.
